DyCM seeks people’s cooperation in effective implementation of welfare programmes

KATHUA, Apr 16: The 3-day Billawar Baisakhi Festival which attracted thousands of people of all faiths and beliefs culminated at Town Hall in Billawar today.
Speaking on the concluding function of historic three day event, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh said that such events help in strengthening the bonds between various sections of the society and nurturing communal harmony. He also prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State and the country.
Dr Singh said efforts would be made to promote tourism activity in Billawar and adjoining areas. “For this purpose Basohli School of paintings, Pashmina shawls and area around Ranjit Sagar Dam will be developed on modern lines,” he said and added that recently approved Challan to Dyalachak road will play vital role in promotion of tourism in the area.
He said a pharmacy school will be opened soon in tehsil Billawar which will benefit the area.
Dr Singh said it is the endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority basis, adding that a well conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner. He said provision of better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors for the Government.
He exhorted upon the officers that benefits of various development and welfare schemes should reach the real beneficiaries. He said the Government is committed for socio-economic empowerment of the people especially those living in hilly, remote and far-flung areas. He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works besides use of quality material. He said no stone would be left unturned in redressing genuine grievances of the people.
He sought people’s cooperation in implementing all Government schemes so that benefits of such schemes reach to the needy. He asked them to maintain close liaison with the administration and projects their demands in most legitimate way.
Minister of State for PWD (R&B) & Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma while speaking on the occasion assured that government will provide necessary roads and bridges to Billawar area so that tourist inflow can further be increased in coming times.
MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj assured that the present regime of BJP-PDP will bring transparent and corruption free atmosphere in the State.
Deputy CM also gave away prizes to best stall category besides winning team in sports activities. First prize for best stall was bagged by Rural Development Department, Lakhanpur, Sarthal Development Authority was awarded second and best farmer stall declared third.
Among others SDM Billawar Dr. RS Charak, Tehsildar Billawar Dr. Manmeet Kumar, BDO Billawar besides district and tehsil level officers of different departments were present on the occasion.
