“The alliance with the BJP is out of the question-it will never happen. We have a majority and do not require anyone’s support,” he said.
Choudhary asserted that the Omar-led Government would demonstrate how J&K should be governed and fulfill the expectations of the people.
“If some people gain TRP from such claims, so be it. We will focus on delivering on the ground and meeting the expectations of those who elected us,” he added.
He further said, “the BJP Government is in Delhi, and the Omar-led Government is in J&K. Both are important, and we must work towards a strong country as well as a strong J&K.”
On ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), the Deputy CM said the Home Minister would address the issue. However, he expressed concern over the rising drug menace in J&K and called for police action.
“There is a serious drug problem in J&K, which is destroying our youth. The Lieutenant Governor must ensure police accountability, and the police need to take strict action,” he said.
Regarding the review meeting, he said the functioning of all departments was assessed, noting that things are in disarray and will take time to set right.
“There is a need to fix things because, for the past several years, they have been in disarray. Setting them right is essential,” he said.
He emphasized that the process wouldn’t happen overnight but would require significant effort. “The media should also highlight weaknesses so that necessary corrections can be made,” he added.
The Deputy CM said that during the meeting, all sectors-including electricity, water, horticulture, and agriculture-were reviewed and the concerned MLAs raised various issues, and officers responded on the spot.
The meeting was attended by MLA Wachi, Showkat Hussain Ganie and MLA Shopian, Shabir Kullay besides HoDs of different departments and sectoral officers.
Highlighting the historical importance of Shopian district, Deputy Chief Minister directed for fast paced work on development projects with special focus on connectivity and Horticulture sectors.
