DyCM directs for suspension of 5 engineers for unauthorized absence

Srinagar, Jan 27: The Deputy Chief Minister today directed the Public Works (R&B) Department to suspend five engineers in Kashmir for alleged lapses in snow clearance and unauthorized absence from duty.
According to an official communication, the Government has asked the Chief Engineer, PW(R&B) South Kashmir, and the Chief Engineer, M&HD, Kashmir, to place the officials under suspension with immediate effect and assign their duties to other officers as per administrative convenience.
The action follows the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit to the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC), Srinagar, on January 25, during which Assistant Engineer Sandeep Vaishnavi of the Machinery Division, Srinagar, was found absent from duty.
The communication further states that complaints were received from elected representatives and public delegations from Shopian, Anantnag, Imam Sahib, Tangmarg, Zainapora and other areas, alleging poor performance by certain PW(R&B) officials, leading to delays in snow clearance, disruption of road connectivity and impact on essential services.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Deputy Chief Minister ordered the suspension of Noor Din, Assistant Executive Engineer, PW(R&B) Sub-Division Imam Sahib; Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Assistant Executive Engineer, Mechanical & Hospital Division Tangmarg; Nasir, Assistant Executive Engineer, Mechanical & Hospital Division Anantnag (Sub-Division II); Sandeep Vaishnavi, Assistant Engineer (PM Package), Machinery Division Srinagar; and Ramiz, Junior Engineer, Mechanical & Hospital Division Zainapora, Sub-Division Imam Sahib.
The department has also been asked to furnish its inputs in the matter within a day, by January 27, to enable further action.
