JAMMU, Jan 19: To have firsthand experience of working in Government schools, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who is Minister for School Education, today conducted series of surprise inspections at different schools in urban and semi urban areas of Jammu city.
These schools visited included Government High School, Nawabad, Government High School Sangrampur and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal road.
Showing concern over poor attendance in schools, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government is making all out efforts for making sure that best education infrastructure is available and adequate staff is posted in the schools. He appealed to the parents to ensure that their children attend schools regularly and they are progressing well in their studies, adding that constant motivation and monitoring at home is very important in child education.
He said that Sarpanchs and Panchs also can be roped in to ensure that people of their respective areas understand the importance of education and encourage youngsters as well as parents become of part of education revolution launched by the Government.
Director School Education, Jammu Dev Lata and CEO accompanied DyCM during the inspection.
Taking strong note of staff attachments in the schools, Tara Chand said that directions have already been issued for immediate detachment of staff to their respective parent schools and no laxity would be allowed in this regard.
He instructed the concerned officers to make sure that no such practice of attachments is continued henceforth and orders have to be followed in true letter and spirit. Action under rule will be taken against the erring officers and teachers, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the kitchen area of the schools where mid day meals are being prepared for the wards. He directed for maintaining proper hygiene in the cooking area to ensure that hygienic and healthy food is served to the children.
While inspecting attendance at CEO office three officials were suspended for being absent without leave.
