SRINAGAR, June 16: Authorities today swung into action and seized two dumpers used in the illegal sale of material from the under-construction Baramulla bypass.
The action followed a report carried by ‘Excelsior’ highlighting violations of the permission granted for the removal and transportation of construction material.
Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, a joint team comprising the Tehsildar Baramulla, District Mineral Officer (DMO), and Baramulla Police conducted an on-site inspection at the locations mentioned in the report.
During the operation, two dumpers involved in the unauthorized transportation of extracted material were seized.
Additionally, work at two major sites – DPS Delina Colony and Singhpora-Kanispora – was ordered to be suspended until further notice.
Officials said the crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure strict compliance with mineral and construction regulations and to prevent misuse of public infrastructure projects.
The administration reiterated its commitment to accountability and warned of stringent action against violators.
Officials further stated that an investigation is underway to identify all individuals and entities involved.
Earlier, residents had flagged the illegal sale of construction material removed from the Baramulla bypass, alleging that it was being transported and sold beyond the permitted hours.
