BISHNAH, June 20: Dogra Sadar Sabha, Tehsil unit Bishnah in a meeting held today discussed various problems being faced by the farmers and border people.
DSS president and former minister, Gulchain Singh Charak was the chief guest while most of the office bearers and members of Tehsil Bishnah unit of the DSS besides former Sarpanches, Panches, Chowkidars and Numberdars attended the meeting.
Non-availability of water for irrigation purpose up to the tail end as no proper de-silting has been carried out in the canal and distributaries of the area and due to the non-availability of electricity all the pump sets and irrigation tube wells have also become totally non-functional which has created a drought like situation.
The people living near the Indo-Pak border are worst affected due to the heavy shelling from across the border and nothing is being done for extending the required help from the Government. He said almost all the main roads, link roads, lanes and drains are in dilapidated condition which has created numerous problems for whole public in general and school going children in particular.
There is total mal-functioning of educational institutions because of the insufficient staff and the accommodation for the students especially the Government Degree College, Bishnah which is in quite bad shape.
“Fasal Bhima Yojna” be immediately implemented in the whole area especially in the border belt so that farmers are saved from starving.
Proper financial assistance be provided to the farmers whose crops have destroyed due to the recent hail storm. Accommodation and other facilities be provide for the degree college Bishnah.
Most of the speakers highlighted the above mentioned problems and appealed to Charak to take up these issues with the concerned authorities otherwise, they will be compelled to start agitation. Charak assured to take up the issues with the concerned authorities.
Prem Sagar Gupta, Gambhir Dev Singh, Dr OP Saini, Dr Raghubir Singh, Madan Lal Bhagat, Waryam Chand, Balwant Saini, Capt Gurbachan Singh, Prem Singh Saini, Dr S K Digra and others also attended the meet.
