JAMMU, Dec 20: The Dogra Sadar Sabha organised a one -day convention of its Tehsil units of Bishnah & Arnia at Bishnah, in which Sarpanches, Panches, Namberdars, Chowkidars and other prominent people from different walks of life participated.
During the convention, various critical issues confronting the people of these areas were discussed. The speakers strongly raised the demands for amelioration of problems of border residents who form a strong line of defence of the country.
After the daylong convention, the house unanimously passed various resolutions, asking the Government to positively consider the same, including issuance of Dogra Certificate for granting due relaxation in matters of recruitment to the belt forces, etc.
Other demands in the resolution included necessary steps by the Government to preserve and promote Dogra culture and heritage, separate recruitment derive for border youth, effective steps to curb the menace of drug smuggling from across the border and its spread among the vulnerable section of our society, strengthening the infrastructure of Govt Degree College, Bishnah, separate Degree College in Arnia, enhancement in remuneration of Namberdars and Chowkidars, regularisation of Daily Wage employees of PDD and PHE departments on humanitarian grounds, adequate compensation to rain and hailstorm hit farmers.
Addressing the participants, Th Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and President of Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K, called upon to the politicians and civil society members of Jammu region to rise above party affiliations and come together in the endeavour of DSS to ensure granting of the legitimate rights to people by the Government and preserve and promote their identity, heritage and future, particularly of the student community of this region.
Others who spoke during the convention included, Gambhir Dev Singh, D K Singh Advocate, Madan Bhagat, Dr Raghubir Singh, Khazan Chand, Master Ram Dass, Mehar Singh, Balwant Saini, Rajesh Saini and K C Sharma.
