JAMMU, Sept 22: In a major crackdown against narco-terror and drug trafficking, Jammu Police has busted a significant drug peddling network, arresting three accused and recovering a commercial quantity of heroin along with electronic weighing machines.
Addressing a press conference today, SP Jammu South, Ajay Sharma, said that on 20 September, during routine checking at a naka at Railway Pulli, Narwal, police apprehended Vishal, son of Ajay of Ludhiana (at present living in Rajeev Nagar). A search of his possession led to the recovery of 280.5 grams of heroin (Chitta) and one electronic weighing machine.
“Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two more accused, a husband-wife duo—Gogi, son of Neep Ram and Reema, wife of Gogi, both residents of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal (Jammu). From their possession, 15 grams of heroin and another electronic weighing machine were recovered,” SP Sharma added.
He confirmed that a case under FIR Number 279/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. “The source and intended destination of the recovered drugs are being investigated. Our teams are working to trace both backward and forward linkages, and a financial probe has been launched to seize proceeds from drug trafficking,” he said.
The officer highlighted that this operation is part of a larger crackdown by Sub Division East targeting drug hotspots such as Rajeev Nagar and Qasim Nagar. “Over the past eight months, we have registered 31 FIRs under the NDPS Act, recovered 1.183 kg of heroin worth Rs 2–3 crore, seized 10 kg of Ganja, and arrested 35 accused. Additionally, 220 individuals have been booked under preventive actions for drug-related activities,” he stated.
