Drug peddler’s property attached under NDPS Act

REASI, Apr 30: In a significant crackdown on drug-related crimes, District Police Reasi today attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 15.35 lakhs belonging to notorious drug smuggler Makhan Lal.
The action against Makhan Lal, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Chak Katwalta, Ramnagar A/P Chak Bhagta, Katra, has been taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The property, located at Village Chak Bhagta and falling under Khasra No. 108, was identified as illegally acquired during a thorough investigation and inquiry conducted by SHO Katra, Insp Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey and Addl SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
During the investigation, it came to light that the said property was purchased through proceeds derived from the illicit narcotics trade. Subsequently, District Police Reasi invoked Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, 1985, which empowers law enforcement to attach properties believed to be acquired through drug trafficking. The seizure was carried out in the presence of revenue officials.
