Drug peddler’s property attached, another detained under PIT NDPS Act

UDHAMPUR, Aug 5: Acting tough against narcotic smugglers, Udhampur Police today attached property worth Rs 70 lakh belonging to a drug peddler while another notorious drug peddler has been detained under PIT NDPS Act.
According to Police, immoveable property of Sanjay Kumar, valued approximately Rs 70 Lakhs, has been attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.
The accused Sanjay Kumar, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Kah Phalata, Udhampur, is involved in FIR number . 99/2025 under Sections 8/15/29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Rehambal.
The attached/freezed properties includes residential house on land Khasra No. 852 located at Kah Phalata/Seen Thakaran and Eeco Car bearing registration number. JK14H-6411; autos bearing registration number JK14K-2108 and JK14C-6510, two scooties bearing registration number JK14F-9854 and JK14H-2029.
The attachment order was issued by the investigating officer as part of ongoing proceedings under the NDPS Act.
Meanwhile, Udhampur police booked and detained a notorious drug peddler namely Amir Khan alias Meddu, son of Mir Qasim alias Allah Rakha, resident of Saillan Talab Udhampur under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal orders from the competent authority.
According to Police, the said accused was promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to the local youth of District Udhampur. His activities posed a serious threat to public health and safety. Many cases were registered against the said drug peddler in different police stations of District Udhampur, Police said
It is pertinent to mention that the said accused was earlier detained under PIT NDPS Act in 2023 and was released in 2024.
