JAMMU, Apr 15: In continuation to the drive against drug menace in sub division Akhnoor, the Police team led by SHO Hilal Azhar today arrested a gang of drug peddlers alongwith narcotic substance.
Police party of Akhnoor, during routine checking at a naka, apprehended one person who disclosed his name as Shabir Ansar, son of Jahur Miya, resident of Chayananbandh District West Champaran, Bihar and on frisking, some quantity of Ganja was recovered from his possession.
On further enquiry, he revealed that he had procured the said drugs from Muneer Ansari, son of Fatinga Ansari, resident of Chayananbandh, West Champaran in Bihar and Sunil Rajat, son of Manager Rajat, resident of Ahroli Dhan, district, Khushi Nagar in UP.
All the three accused persons were arrested and 320 gm Ganja was recovered from their possession. It was also revealed that the trio was involved in sale of drugs particularly targeting the workers and labourers. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 101/2021 U/s 8/20 NDPS was registered against them. Further, investigation was in progress.
Police has issued stern warning against anyone involved in drug peddling and appealed public to share information in this regard so that necessary action under law can be taken.
