JAMMU, Sept 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered from their possession heroin-like-substance, weapon, and cash among other incriminating items.
A police official said a special naka was laid at Purmandal Morh by a team of Police Station Gangyal.
During checking, he said, a man was intercepted who tried to dodge police questioning. He was identified as Shamsher Khan of Kalyanpur, Marh in Jammu district.
From his possession, 50 grams of heroin-like substance, Rs 50,000 cash, a weighing machine, and a mobile phone was recovered, said the police official.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 101/2025 under sections 8/21/22/27(a) of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Police Station Gangyal and the accused taken into custody, he said.
He said further investigation is underway to trace his backward and forward linkages and to bust the network involved in the trade.
In another case, a team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar achieved a breakthrough with the arrest of one drug peddler and recovery of heroin-like substance from his possession.
A police official said during patrolling, a team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar headed by SHO Inspector Jai Paul Sharma and PSI Abheyvir Kotwal along with other Police officials arrested one peddler from Sashtri Nagar, Near Shamshan Ghat area.
He was identified as Shakti Kumar of Nougran, Bishnah, District Jammu.
Upon conducting his search, the police recovered 50 grams of heroin-like substance and one pistol from his possession, the police official said.
He said the accused is already wanted in many FIRs.
According to the police official, the accused has been arrested and booked in case FIR number 206/2025 under sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act, 3/25 Arms Act, and 111 BNS registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu and further investigation taken up.
Arrests of drug peddlers by Gangyal and Gandhi Nagar Police Stations were made by police teams under the supervision of SDPO Sunil Singh Jasrotia.
