Drug peddler held with over 18 kg poppy straw-like substance by ANTF

JAMMU, Feb 1: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Jammu and Kashmir, today claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered over 18 kg of poppy straw-like narcotic substance during a naka checking operation on the Sidhra-Panjtirthi Link Road here.
Acting on specific information, the ANTF team intercepted an Alto car (JK02AF-0417) on the Sidhra-Panjtirthi Link Road, an ANTF official said.
During the search of the vehicle, he said, over 18 kilograms of poppy straw-like contraband was recovered.
Accordingly, the accused driver of the vehicle, identified as Kirpal Singh (46) of Gunda Khawas in Rajouri district, presently living in Purkhoo, Jammu, was arrested on the spot.
The ANTF official said preliminary investigation revealed that he was transporting the contraband from Kashmir to Jammu for further illegal distribution.
According to him, the accused has been booked in case FIR number 02/2026 registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been set into motion to trace the source of the contraband and other links in the network.
The operation was conducted by an ANTF team under the supervision of the SSP ANTF Jammu and Kashmir and DySP ANTF Jammu Ravinder Singh Rakwal.
