Drug peddler held with heroin-like substance

KATHUA, Nov 5: An alleged drug peddler was arrested with 9.31 grams of heroin-like substance from Dharmkot Village on the Dhar Road in Billawar area here today.
Acting on reliable information, a team of Police Station Billawar led by SHO concerned, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, under the supervision of SP Upper Kathua Aamir Iqbal and SDPO Billawar Neeraj Padyar raised a naka at Dharmkot, a police official said.
During checking, the police team noticed one person coming on foot from Mandli towards Phinter, he said.
On seeing the police party, the police official said, the suspected individual attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.
On conducting personal search of the individual, identified as Mohammad Sadiq of Galak Jasyal, Tehsil Ramkot, District Kathua, 9.31 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered, he said.
Accordingly, he was booked in case FIR number 163/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Billawar and further investigation set into motion to unearth the drug nexus, including the backward and forward linkages involved in the procurement and supply of the recovered contraband, added the police official.
According to the police official, the arrested individual is a notorious drug peddler, who was wanted for his involvement in several cases registered under the NDPS Act at Police Stations Billawar, and Sadar, Gurdaspur, Punjab.
