JAMMU, July 4: Police have arrested a drug peddler from Puran Nagar area here and recovered 5.88 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
A police official said that the arrest was made on July 2 when a team from Police Post Talab Tillo, while conducting routine checking near Puran Nagar, signalled a vehicle to stop.
He said the driver attempted to flee but was swiftly intercepted.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK20B-7053, was accordingly searched and heroin-like substance was found hidden under the driver’s seat, he said.
According to him, the accused identified as Hashim Ali of Belicharana, has been booked in case FIR number 92/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Nowabad Police Station and further investigation set into motion.
The operation was led by PSI Paramjeet Singh, Incharge Police Post Talab Tillo, under the supervision of SHO Nowabad and senior police officers.
Police have not ruled out more arrests in the case.
