Drug peddler held with heroin

JAMMU, Feb 24: Miran Sahib Police has recovered a heroin-like substance from a suspected drug peddler in Miran Sahib area.
A police team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by SHO Inspector Jatinder Singh laid a naka near Dak Bungalow Maralia. During checking at around 1 pm, a person approaching from Maralia towards the Dak Bungalow turn became suspicious and tried to flee after noticing the police party.
The alert cops chased and intercepted him. On questioning, he identified himself as Jagir Singh, son of Surjit Singh, a resident of Darsopur, Miran Sahib. A personal search led to the recovery of 7.50 grams of heroin-like substance (chitta), which had been concealed in a polythene packet.
The accused was immediately taken into custody and the contraband was seized. In this connection, a case under FIR Number 30/2026 has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.
Police said further investigation is in progress to unearth the drug network and establish forward and backward linkages.
