KATRA, Dec 29: Police apprehended a drug peddler at Searli Naka and recovered heroin-like substance from his possession.
During a naka by Police Station Katra at Searli on the intervening night of December 28-29, a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK20C-5483 coming from Udhampur towards Katra, was intercepted. Upon checking, 3.32 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from possession of the driver, identified as Beeru, son of Suram Chand , resident of Thaplar, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 346/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra and the accused has been arrested and lodged in police lock-up. Further investigation is underway to ascertain backward and forward linkages.
