RAJOURI, July 27: In a major success in the fight against drug menace, Nowshera Police today apprehended a drug- peddler and recovered some quantity of heroin from his possession.
A police party from Police Station Nowshera led by SHO Inspector, Arjun Magotra under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Sahil Mahajan, was conducting routine traffic checking at Garan Morh. During checking, the team noticed a person approaching on- foot from the Rajal side. Upon spotting the police, the suspect attempted to flee in a suspicious manner, which raised immediate suspicion in the mind of the cops on duty.
The alert police personnel chased and successfully apprehended the villager after a brief effort. Upon preliminary questioning, the accused revealed his identity as Shabnam Qureshi, son of Mohd Sayeed, resident of Ghambir Brahmana, Tehsil Manjakote, District Rajouri.
A personal search of the accused led to the recovery of a white polythene packet containing approximately 8 grams of heroin from the right pocket of his pants.
Following the recovery, a case FIR No. 97/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowshera against him and further investigation has been initiated.
