Drug peddler held with 7.9 Kg poppy husk

JAMMU, Aug 9: A drug peddler was arrested with 7.9 kilograms of poppy husk from Panjtirthi area here, officials said today.
On the intervening night of Friday-Saturday, a surveillance team of the Police Post Panjtirthi noticed a Tavera car (JK03M-3922) trying to change its route on seeing the police party, a police official said.
The alert police party, however, chased and intercepted the vehicle and put it to thorough search, he said.
During search of the vehicle, 7.90 kilograms of poppy husk was recovered from the possession of one person travelling in the car, identified as Dazzy Singh of Batala, Punjab, the police official further said.
Accordingly, he said, the accused individual was booked in case FIR number 94/2025 under sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and further investigation taken up.
