Drug peddler held with 30-gm heroin-like substance in Nagrota

JAMMU, July 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 30 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession in the Nagrota area.
A police official said the accused, identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Dar of Chathabal, Karan Nagar, Srinagar, was intercepted while moving suspiciously near Bajalta Morh by a naka team of Police Post Sidhra.
“He attempted to flee on seeing the police but was apprehended and during a search, the narcotic substance was recovered,” the police official said.
Accordingly, he said, the accused was booked in case FIR Number 166/2025 under sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation was underway to identify the source and possible links to a wider drug network.
