Drug peddler held with 22 grams heroin

KATRA, Mar 1: In a significant success, Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 22 gram of heroin from his possession, during special naka checking at Pamote Nallah, Katra.
The accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Prem Chand, resident of Dub Pouni, District Reasi, was riding a Scooty (JK20-7635) from Kakryal towards Katra, which was stopped at Pamote Nallah during a special naka established by a police party of Police Station Katra.
During the personal search, approximately 22 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession, following which the accused was taken into custody.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 64/2026 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and investigation was initiated to unearth the backward and forward linkages involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
The entire operation was carried out by SHO Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
