Drug peddler held with 1 kg Ganja

JAMMU, Nov 8: Gangyal Police have apprehended a suspected drug peddler and recovered a sizeable quantity of contraband from his possession.
During naka checking at Purmandal Morh on the National Highway, a police team led by PSI Arun Sharma under the supervision of SP South and overall guidance of SDPO South noticed a pedestrian approaching from Bari Brahmana towards Kunjwani. On spotting the police, he attempted to turn back, prompting the team to chase and detain him.
The individual was identified as Bhanu Singh Banjara, a resident of Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh. On frisking, the police recovered around 1 kg of Ganja-like substance from his possession. As he failed to provide any valid justification, the contraband was seized on the spot and he was taken into custody.
A case FIR Number 116/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal, and further investigation is underway.
