RAJOURI, June 17: In a move against drug trafficking, the police apprehended a suspected drug- peddler and seized a quantity of banned pharmaceutical substances.
The incident occurred at Badhal Puli where a police team from Police Station Kandi, led by SHO/ DySP (Probationer) Shrafat Nawaz, along with SHO Police Station Kotranka, was conducting regular checking. During checking, a suspicious individual was observed approaching from the Kotranka side. On seeing police party, the villager tried to flee the scene, but the alert police personnel acted swiftly and apprehended him on the spot.
Upon conducting a personal search of the individual, the police recovered a significant quantity of contraband. The seized items included two strips of Tramadol tablets (20 tablets), five strips of Pregabalin tablets (50 tablets), and two units of Tramadol injections. These substances, known for their abuse potential, are strictly regulated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Kabir, son of Nazir Hussain, a resident of Mohra, Kotranka in Rajouri district. Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 66/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kandi under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
