Srinagar, Jan 29: Police today arrested a drug peddler and recovered charas and illicit liquor from a Maruti car at Pattan.
Police on a tip off this morning laid a naka on the National Highway at Zangam, Pattan. The naka party headed by Ajay Sharma, SHO Police Station Pattan intercepted a Maruti 800 car bearing registration number JK01C-6863. Upon searching the car, police recovered large quantity of liquor and charas. The driver of the car Farooq Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie resident of Sangrampora, Sopore was also arrested.
A Case FIR No 14/2013 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Pattan in this regard. Investigation of the case is going on to nab other persons who are related to this menace.
In the meantime, Baramulla police recovered stolen electronic items including mobile phones from a burglar in Pattan today.
Police said on January 17, burglars decamped with mobile phones and electronic items from a shop M/s Umar Electronic Products in Pattan.
With the help of FSL team of Baramulla police, investigation of the case led to a rounding of a suspect Naseer Ahmad Bhat alias Nus, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Kastori Kocha Gojree Mohalla Pattan.
