JAMMU, July 24: Panjtirthi Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, during checking a team from Police Post Panjtirthi led by PSI Rahul Sharma under the supervision of SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Raghubir Singh, SDPO City Sharad Kalu and SP City Kulbir Handa intercepted a winger bearing registration number JK02BR-1602 which was coming from Srinagar towards Jammu.
During checking, police team recovered 6.500 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of a passenger and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Kamaljit Singh, son of Som Nath of Santokhpura, Jalandhar, Punjab.
A case FIR Number 86/2022 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation started.
