Drug peddler arrested, heroin seized

UDHAMPUR, May 2: Police arrested a drug peddler under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and recovered 6.95 grams of heroin like substance from his possession.
Police team from Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, while performing routine patrolling duty, apprehended the accused, who was trying to hide himself from cops thus creating suspicion.
Upon conducting a thorough frisking, the police team recovered 6.95 grams of heroin like contraband substance from possession of the apprehended person, identified as Amir Khan alias Midu, son of Mir Qasim of Sallian Talab , Udhampur.
A case vide FIR number 153/2025, under section 8/21/22/ NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at P/S Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
According to a Police spokesperson, District Police Udhampur registered a total of 34 cases and arrested 52 individuals under NDPS and PIT NDPS/PSA Acts, this year. 13 vehicles used in drug trafficking were seized, along with the closure of 4 pharmacy shops for violations related to H1 drugs.
In a significant crackdown on financial assets, 26 bank accounts of drug peddlers amounting to Rs 16,58,403 were frozen. A total of 1.64 crore rupees worth of contraband was seized. Moreover, properties valued at Rs 2.49 crore were attached, including residential buildings, vehicles, and commercial properties linked to NDPS and bovine smuggling cases.
