KATRA, June 22: Police today apprehended a drug peddler near Ban Ganga in the holy town and recovered heroin-like substance from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Ravinder Kumar, son of Madan Lal, resident of Sadda Kanthol, Rajouri, presently residing at PP Market SMVD Track, Ban Ganga. A personal search of the accused led to the recovery of a green-coloured polythene packet containing approximately 7.24 grams of heroin-like substance from the left pocket of his trousers.
According to Police, the accused was apprehended during routine checking at Keri Naka, Ban Ganga, around 4:15 pm when he was coming from the Katra side. The Police party, who arrested the accused, was led by SHO Katra, Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
In this regard, a case FIR under NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered substance and to unearth any possible links in the drug network.
