SRINAGAR, Feb 19: Police today claimed to have arrested a peddler in city outskirts and recovered 590 bottles of Codeine Phosphate bottles from his car.
A police spokesman said the peddler, identified as Riyaz Ahmad Malla son of Ali Muhammad resident of Kondabal, Manasbal, was arrested in Zakoora area and investigation has been taken up.
“Police found the contraband from Malla’s Alto car bearing registration number JK01J/4321 during checking in Zakura area,” the spokesman said.
He was arrested and during questioning he revealed that the contraband was being transported to Ganderbal district for sale among the youth indulged in its abuse.
An FIR number 03/2015 under Section 22 NDPS Act was registered in this regard.
