Drug peddler arrested

REASI, Dec 9: Police arrested a drug peddler from Gran Morh area and recovered 3.6 grams of heroin like substance from his possession.
Reports said that a team of Police, Police Station Reasi had established a naka for checking of vehicles and pedestrians at Gran Morh on Reasi-Railway Road. During the checking, one person travelling on foot from Gran Morh towards Railway Road was stopped for questioning. He disclosed his identity as Mohd Ashraf, son of Hussain Ali, resident of Gran Morh, Reasi.
Upon thorough search, the police recovered a pink-white coloured polythene from the right pocket of his kurta. On opening it, 3.6 grams of heroin-like substance was found. When asked about the possession of the contraband, the individual failed to give any satisfactory reply.
The accused was immediately detained, and a case FIR has been registered at Police Station Reasi. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the substance and identify any associates involved in drug peddling.
The whole operation was conducted by the team of Police Station Reasi, led by SHO, Inspector Khaytiman Khajuria, under the supervision of Dy SP Headquarters, Vishal Singh Jamwal.
