POONCH, June 30: Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered heroin-like substance from his possession.
Reports said a team of Police Post Chaktroo had established a routine naka at Chaktroo last night around 2100 hrs when the accused approaching from the Chandak side, attempted to flee from the spot noticing cops. However, the alert naka party swiftly intercepted the suspect.
Upon conducting his personal search, approximately 5.28 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered. During preliminary questioning, the individual disclosed his identity as Imran Qazmi, son of Gulzar Hussain, resident of Sathra.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 54/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Mandi. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to unearth the broader network, if any.
