Drug den busted in Katra; banned tablets, Rs 2 lakh cash seized

KATRA, Nov 21: In a major action against the illegal sale of psychotropic substances, Police seized contraband substances from residence of an alleged female drug peddler.
A dedicated team of Police Station Katra, led by its officials and accompanied by the Tehsildar Katra, carried out a search at the residence of Renu Devi, wife of Som Raj, resident of Ward number 05, near Chintamani Temple, Katra.
During the search operation, Police recovered Tramadol 5 mg – 10 strips (10 capsules each), totaling 100 capsules;Alprazolam 0.5 mg – 74 tablets and Petril MD 0.5 mg – 14 tablets.
In addition to the banned psychotropic tablets, a cash amount of Rs 2.068 lakh was also seized. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had accumulated this money through the illegal sale of these banned substances.
In this regard, case FIR No. 316/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway to identify the source of the drugs and to expose the entire network involved in the illegal trade.
The entire operation was carried out by SHO Katra Insp Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr Bhishm Dubey.
