Driving licenses of two drivers cancelled after fatal accident

RAJOURI, Feb 10: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) today cancelled the driving licences of two drivers involved in a fatal road accident that occurred on February 9, 2026, on National Highway NH-144A at Dhallian.
The accident involved a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK11G-9495 and a Tipper bearing registration number JK11E-0570, which collided head-on.
The mishap resulted in grievous injuries to five persons, while one of the vehicles skidded off the road and fell towards the riverside.
During on-the-spot inspection, officials found that both vehicles were being driven in a rash and negligent manner, posing serious danger to public life.
In view of the circumstances, the Licensing Authority ordered the cancellation of the driving licences of both drivers.
The cancelled licences include DL No. JK11-20140042441, issued in the name of Sajad Ahmed Jaral and DL No. JK11-20160057843, issued in the name of Nirbair Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta said that the department remains committed to strict enforcement of road safety norms and that no leniency will be shown towards rash and negligent driving.
He appealed to all motorists to adhere to traffic rules and drive responsibly to prevent the loss of precious lives.
