Srinagar, Sept 27: All Kashmir Transport Welfare Association today alleged that there were illegal operations going on from Batamaloo Bus Stand in total violations to the High Court directives even as only Buses have been left that are operating from Parimpora Bus Stand as per orders.
Scores of drivers who are associated with the Western Bus Service appeared in Press Enclave and were seen raising slogans in favour of their demands while seeking immediate action from the district administration into the issue.
“As per court directives, we were taken to Parimpora and Pantha chowk bus stands and were asked to operate from there, however, there are several vehicles that are illegally operating from Batamaloo bus stand,” Shabir Ahmad Matta who is heading All Kashmir Transport Welfare Association said.
He said that several vehicles that are coming from districts are directly reaching the Batamaloo bus stand due to which they are suffering losses. “Naturally, the passenger would like to de-board at Batamaloo than Parimpora and due to that we are suffering losses, while as we have already suffered a lot in the last few years,” he said.
The drivers said that there were clear-cut directions from the Divisional Administration that no one would go beyond Parimpora on one side and Pantha Chowk on the other side. “These directions are being violated and mass irregularities are going on which need be checked or we would be forced to come back and operate from Batamaloo,” the drivers said.
The drivers said that either all the vehicles should be directed to operate from Parimpora, or direct everyone to start functioning from the Batamaloo bus stand.
“The Divisional Administration need to take note of the issue and pass on necessary directives in this regard; otherwise, while we are already in deep trouble, the same might aggravate,” the drivers said.
