Driver drowns in Kathua canal

KATHUA, May 24: A driver today drowned in Kathua canal after he halted his truck at Lakhanpur and went to take a dip in the canal.
However, he slipped away in the canal and drowned. His dead body was fished out from water at a distance of over 100 meters by police. The deceased has been identified as Ghulam Rasool Bhat, 29, son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat of North Kashmir district of Baramulla.
His body was handed over to his accomplice by the Lakhanpur Police after postmortem. The Lakhanpur Police has registered a case under Section 174 CrPC. The truck was on way from Delhi to Kashmir.
