STOCKHOLM, Sept 18: Dr Varun Suthra, noted voice in geopolitics and parliamentary diplomacy, held an insightful exchange with Margareta Cederfelt, one of Sweden’s most seasoned parliamentarians, in Stockholm.
Cederfelt, a long-serving Member of the Swedish Parliament, is currently a Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chair of the Swedish Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and Chair of the Sweden-India Friendship Group. With decades of experience in European politics, she is widely respected for her leadership in advancing democratic dialogue and strengthening Sweden’s engagement with the world, including her deep commitment to fostering Sweden-India relations.
During the meeting, Dr Suthra and Cederfelt discussed the growing importance of India on the global stage, as well as avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in education, sustainability, and international policymaking. Cederfelt’s profound knowledge of India’s culture, heritage, and emerging global role brought special depth to the dialogue, making the exchange both meaningful and forward-looking.
Dr Suthra, associated with KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology) and KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) in India, emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy and academic collaborations in shaping inclusive growth and global partnerships. He also underlined the potential of sports diplomacy in strengthening international ties, drawing on his role as a Member of the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) Communications Commission.
