SRINAGAR, Sept 17: The University of Kashmir (KU) has appointed its senior-most administrative officer, Dr Mohammad Shafi Sumbli, as Rector of the Varsity’s Kargil campus.
Dr Sumbli, who was presently serving as Director Convocation Complex, has held very important positions in the university system over the years including Registrar, Chairman Centre for Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies and Special Secretary to Vice-Chancellor.
He has also successfully headed various significant wings of the administration including Estates, Teaching, Development, Examination etc in his career spanning more than 30 years.
Dr Sumbli has also been the longest-serving president of the Kashmir University Officers’ Association (KUOA). Despite his high commitments on various administrative positions, Dr Sumbli has continued his association with academics, especially teaching and research at the department of Kashmiri and Centre for Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies.
Meanwhile, Dr Sumbli shall also look after the affairs of the University’s Leh campus for the time being.
