JAMMU, Dec 19: In order to draw attention to key challenges faced by traders, MSMEs and industrial units across the Union Territory, Dr Sanjay Bansal, Board Member of the National Traders’ Welfare Board (NTWB), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and National President of the Federation of Trade & Industry of India (FTII) met with Vikram Jeet Singh, the Commissioner Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, Jammu & Kashmir.
Bansal also submitted a memorandum in which he highlighted several issues adversely affecting the ease of doing business, including the discontinuation of the New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS), delays in GST refunds and incentive disbursements, lack of support for existing industries, limited access to finance due to inadequate presence of NBFCs and unresolved industrial land-related problems.
He also proposed a series of structural reforms, such as the creation of a dedicated traders’ registration portal, fast-track loans for small businesses with interest subsidy, weekly virtual grievance redressal mechanisms, representation of NTWB in key decision-making committees and better coordination among departments including PCC, Fire, Labour, KVIB, EDI, GeM and JKTPO.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bansal said, “The objective was not to seek concessions, but to ensure fair, transparent and timely implementation of announced policies so that Jammu & Kashmir can emerge as a resilient and competitive industrial hub.”
He reaffirmed NTWB’s commitment to work closely with the UT administration to promote sustainable growth and employment generation.
Those present and endorsing the submission included Anil Suri, Tarun Singla, Varinder Jain, Sanjeev Aggarwal, Mohit Gupta, Rakesh Wazir, Rakesh Bhatt, Lalit Mahajan, Tejwant Singh, Ashwani Goswami, Ajay Ahuja and Jatinder Vermani.
