Dr Rajeev Bhagat kick-starts Rs 38 lakh canal upgradation

JAMMU, Jan 6: Taking a decisive step toward bolstering agricultural infrastructure and fulfilling a long-standing demand of the farming community, Dr.Rajeev Kumar Bhagat, MLA Bishnah, today kick started the improvement and upgradation work of the minor canal stretching from Bishnah Police Station (PS) to Deoli Tibba.
The project, which spans a significant length from RD 0 to 3000 meters, has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 38.00 lakh. This vital irrigation artery is set to undergo extensive lining and restoration, aimed at eliminating water seepage and ensuring that the tail-end agricultural fields in Deoli Tibba receive an adequate and uninterrupted supply of water.
During the launch, Dr. Rajeev was accompanied by Rajesh Gupta, Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Jammu, and his technical team. The MLA conducted a thorough inspection of the site and issued strict instructions to the Department to maintain the highest quality of work. He emphasized that the project must be completed within the stipulated timeframe to ensure that farmers do not face any hurdles during the peak irrigation season.
Addressing a large gathering of locals and farmers at the venue, Dr. Rajeev reiterated his commitment to transforming Bishnah into a “Model constituency.” “The prosperity of our region lies in the strength of our agricultural sector. By upgrading this canal, we are not just laying concrete; we are securing the livelihoods of hundreds of families. My focus is to provide every village with urban-level infrastructure, starting with the basic needs of our farmers,” the MLA stated.
