JAMMU, Dec 26 : In a major step towards enhancing rural connectivity, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Bhagat, MLA Bishnah, today kick started the macadamization of a vital link road in his constituency. The project, valued at Rs 25 lakh, covers the stretch from the Bishnah-Kunjwani road to Sikanderpur via Jinder Khurd, spanning a total length of 1.700 kilometers (KM 1st RD 950 onwards).
Addressing a gathering of locals and party workers during the commencement ceremony, Dr. Rajeev Bhagat emphasized that robust road connectivity is the backbone of rural development. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every village in the Bishnah constituency is linked with high-quality, all-weather roads to ease the movement of commuters and farmers. “Our priority is to bridge the gap between rural and urban infrastructure. This 1.7 km stretch is a crucial link for the residents of Jinder Khurd and Sikanderpur, and its completion will significantly improve daily transit and boost the local economy,” the MLA stated.
The project is being executed under the Cities and Towns Programme of the Capex Budget 2025-26. During the inauguration, Mohd Rafiq, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PWD Sub Division, Bishnah, was present along with his technical team to brief the MLA on the project specifications. Dr. Bhagat directed the officials to maintain the highest standards of quality and to ensure the work is completed within the stipulated timeframe to minimize public inconvenience.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local leadership and the community. Notable attendees included Rinku Choudhary, district president Jammu Border, Parveen Kumari, vice president, Surjeet Singh, general secretary, Sumeet Sadhotra, Mandal pradhan, Bishnah, Kuldeep Sodhi, general secretary, Surinder Singh, former corporator, Deepu Charak, Ghara, and Raj Kumar, former Panchs, Sonu Charak, Booth president The local residents expressed their gratitude to Dr. Rajeev Bhagat for prioritizing this long-pending demand, noting that the upgraded road would greatly improve the quality of life in the region.
