Dr Raj Nath Bhat passes away

JAMMU, Dec 14: The mortal remains of Dr. Raj Nath Bhat, former Professor of Medicines, Government Medical College Jammu who passed away here yesterday morning after cardiac arrest at his Gandhi Nagar residence were consigned to flames at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground this afternoon.
He was one of the pioneers of medicine and medical education in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his long and illustrious career, Dr. Bhat was medical-in-charge in the major Government hospitals in Poonch, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and SMGS Hospital, Jammu besides Professor of Medicine at GMC, Jammu. He was also the personal physician to various Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Bhat was a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians at Glasgow and Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Dr. Bhat was well-known in the State not only for being one of the most skilled physicians, but also for his honesty, absolute scrupulousness and integrity in Government service. Dr. Bhat always kept selfless service towards the poor and disadvantaged people of the State as the main goal of his practice of Medicine, and poor people from every region of the State used to flock in large numbers to his clinic.
Dr. Bhat is survived by his Wife Shanti; two sons Dr. Ayushman Bhat and Subash Bhat.
