JAMMU, Jan 11: MLA Ramgarh and former Minister, Dr Divender Kumar Manyal has expressed serious concern over continuous blackout in border belt of his constituency which has turned life of people miserable.
In a statement issued here, today the MLA said it is unfortunate that despite his repeated pleas the concerned authorities of PDD have failed to improve power supply in the border belt.
Dr Manyal said that people of his constituency are paying the power tariff regularly and over 80 percent houses in the constituency have been fully metered despite that they are facing the power outage for hours together especially during night hours which has exposed the border denizens to grave security risk.
He said in view of the terror incidents and dropping of arms from drone in the border belt of Samba yesterday, the long duration power cut especially during night hours is dangerous as such practice can be very dangerous from security point of view. Moreover the continuous power cuts are also affecting the studies of students whose examinations are drawing near as well as aged and infirm people.
Dr Manyal said that power cuts during night hours are also a safe cover to bovine smugglers and drug traffickers which is increasing day by day.
Dr Manyal warned the authorities that in case they fail to solve the problem and improve power supply in border belt of his constituency, he will be constrained to lead a mass movement of people against the Department.
