JAMMU, Dec 16: In a significant medical milestone, Dr Maneesh K Sharma, Plastic Surgeon, successfully performed the first Laser Pilonidal Sinus Surgery at ASCOMS Hospital, Jammu.
Laser Pilonidal Sinus Surgery is an advanced and minimally invasive technique that offers multiple benefits over conventional surgery. Unlike earlier procedures that required a large incision and prolonged recovery, laser surgery involves only a small incision, resulting in minimal pain, faster recovery and no visible scar.
With advancements in laser technology, the treatment of Pilonidal Sinus has now become safer, easier, and more patient-friendly, greatly improving post-operative comfort and outcomes.
The procedure was carried out with expert anesthesia support from Dr Nandita Mehta, Professor & Head, Department of Anaesthesia; Dr Shikha Sharma, Professor, Anaesthesia; Dr Rasmeet, Associate Professor, Anaesthesia; and Dr Nashra, Assistant Professor, Anaesthesia. The surgery was assisted by Dr Samridhi Gupta.
