JAMMU, July 17: To review the facilities providing to students at the Government Higher Secondary School (Camp) Bohri, Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) paid a special visit here today.
During his visit, Dr Karwani accessed the difficulties which are being faced by the students of Camp Schools in making it to the higher levels in the sporting field because of the lack of platform and opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized to give exposure to the students of Camp Schools in Jammu and take initiatives with regard to their holistic development and advised the concerned to launch mega sporting events among the Camp Schools under the auspices of Relief Organisation.
Lavishing praise on the teaching fraternity of Camp Schools, Dr Karwani said that these teachers are like a morning breeze, helping the students to blossom despite lack of infrastructural facilities.
“You should organise sports activities within the Camp institutions and tap talent at the grassroots level. After making pool of selected players in different sports disciplines, you should guide them to take part in inter-school and inter-zonal activities being organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS). The difficulty with regard to pooling of 25 percent games fund with the DYSS can be sorted out,” he advised the Physical Education staff of the institution.
Apart from office and classrooms, Dr Karwani inspected Library, Laboratory and Smart Classrooms of the school.
Earlier, Dr Karwani felicitated Manik Pandita, who had secured 10th position in medical stream of Class 12th BOSE examination.
Principal of the School, Sanjay Pandita presented welcome address and presented a memento to Dr Karwani as a token of gratitude from the institution.
