JAMMU, May 12: Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Ministries of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh today expressed his shock and grief over the demise of Dr Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri who was killed in Pakistani mortar shell at Rajouri two days back.
Dr Jitendra Singh after his arrival from Union Capital here straightway drove to the residence of Dr Thapa a fellow Medico turned Civil Servant and paid his deepest condolences to his family.
Dr Jitendra Singh said “Dr Thapa had been closely associated with us as a trainee at the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) Mussoorie Uttarakhand’’.
Dr Jitendra Singh also handed over a group photo of the training period as a Civil Servant trainee at the National Centre for Good Governance affiliated to DoPT to his wife on the occasion. He termed Dr Thapa a dedicated, honest, hardworking and noble officer who served the nation till his last breath with utmost devotion.
Dr Jitendra Singh also recalled his personnel relations with Dr Thapa as a medico and later as Civil Servant saying that he (Dr Thapa ) was known to him for last 35-40 years first as a young student then as a doctor and later as a Civil Servant.
Dr Jitendra Singh said “As a Civil Servant, Dr Thapa remained in touch with me’’. Dr Jitendra Singh said his demise is a great loss to the UT of J&K as well as nation as a whole.
He said Dr Thapa will remain as an inspiration for his fraternity as he made the supreme sacrifice of his life in the line of duty while supervising relief measures during operation Sindoor at Rajouri.
He said though Dr Thapa is not physically with us but his memories will always remain with us and he will be a guiding force and inspiration for the younger generation.
