JAMMU, Sept 18: Art Exhibition titled ‘Within the Limits’ of Sculptures by Ravinder Singh Jamwal, well known sculptor of Jammu, was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, PMOs, Earth Sciences, Science & Technology, DOPT, (GOI), at Foyer Gallery of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.
The works in the contemporary style of sculpture known as ‘Installations’ put on display in the exhibition depict the themes associated with principles behind the working of nature, universe and heavenly bodies within peculiar limits and restrictions. The instalations have been executed in different materials like steel, pvc, stone, wood and other materials.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the Jammu artist in contributing to the art & culture of the country. He said that artists like Ravinder Jamwal deserve to be credited for making a niche in the national scene of art.
Ravinder Jamwal has put up his exhibitions in different parts of the country and international platforms. He has worked on different mediums on folk, mythological andphilosophical aspects while giving his exhibitions. His glorious display of works can be seen in the form of statues and portraits at many places in Jammu also.
Ravinder has been decorated with different honours and awards including National Award during the National Exhibition ofArt (1996). He has the credit of being honoured with Dogra Rattan Award (2013), State Award by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu (1994 and 2002) and others. He has been conferred with Junior Fellowship by Ministry of Human Reso-urces (1996- 98). He has attended International and National Artist Camps also. His works have been displayed many a time in Intern-ational, National and State level art Exhibitions.
His achievements have made him registered in Limca Book of Records (2009). He had been member of Royal British Society of Sculptors (RBS), London, (2005-07), presently is a member of International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events (A.I.E.S.M), Italy.
