‘Cong no longer can mislead people’

JAMMU, Nov 23: Hitting out at Congress, Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that in those States where party or INDI Alliance wins elections, for Congress there is no problem with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and in those States or Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies where the BJP and NDA candidates emerge victorious Congress blames EVMs for its defeat.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function organised by Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said in Wayanad and Jharkhand there is no problem with EVMs but for Congress the problem with EVMs is in Maharashtra where BJP got a landslide mandate, he added.

He said but how long Congress can take advantage of the false allegations as people of the country are awaken now and they can no longer fall in the trap of Congress propaganda.
He, while complimenting the people of Maharashtra, also gave credit to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for party’s landslide victory in Maharashtra. He said the double Engine Government of NDA has changed the whole narrative now.
Earlier addressing the function of Chamber of Commerce and Industry after inaugurating the new building of the organisation here, Dr Jitendra Singh called for private sector and Government’s closer coordination.

The Jammu Chamber has legacy and character due to which it has obtained a distinct identity all over country, he added. He also recalled the representative character of Jammu Chamber saying while the political parties lacked to pursue the people’s issues due to dissolution of Assembly, Chamber took a lead and this has been a unique characteristics of Jammu Chamber which gives it a distinct identity among all chambers of the country. The Jammu Chamber took up the cause of the people every time, he added.
The Union Minister said whether it was the agitation in eighties or issue of separate AIIMS for Jammu or the Amarnath land row agitation of 2008, the Chamber was ahead of all to fight for the cause of people of Jammu. “When Jammu faced crisis the Chamber was on forefront in seeking its resolution,” Dr Jitendra Singh said.
He said “It is a bounden duty on Government as well as public representatives including us to boost the Chamber from time to time.”
He said other Chambers in the country are confined to the business community only but Jammu Chamber represents the entire region.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Chamber has definitely a role to play and political parties need to understand that. He said during the agitation of separate AIIMS for Jammu when the issue was taken to the Union Health Minister, J P Nadda at that time he said how two AIIMs can be established in one State. Later when Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was apprised of the matter, he (PM) said he knows that Jammu people will not agree and hence separate AIIMS be sanctioned for the region, the Minister added.
Dr Jitendra Singh also recalled the Chamber’s old relation with BJP saying when BJP was in opposition and whenever it launched any agitation for people’s cause it was Chamber which always stood by the party. “When we were not getting a venue for the programme, Chamber had always come forward to provide us the space”, he added.
He said “In past the Jammu faced some lapses and we have to overcome them also and we have to take steps how Jammu will become the part of India’s growth story and how the earlier lapses can be overcome”.
Referring to the new industrial policy, Dr Jitendra Singh said that under it the UT will get the investment but we have to ensure that the local traders should not be put in loss or they should not also suffer. He said the people should take the online benefit. The Government saved Rs 200 crore after Darbar move was stopped. Dr Jitendra Singh said the Government has in principle agreed a separate Railway Division for Jammu however order has not been issued as yet.
He, while referring to the memorandum given by the Chamber, assured them that he will keep the issues before PM Modi. He said till now all the issues pertaining to people of J&K which were brought in PM’s notice he solved them.
He said the Rail link to Kashmir has become a reality during Modi rule and there is highest Railway bridge in Reasi. The project was abandoned in 2014 and it was said that alignment was not possible, he added.
He said Government has many schemes and Chamber can join hands with Government in taking these schemes to people especially youth. He also suggested of opening R&D of Chamber in Jammu on pattern of other chambers who study schemes and propagate them. Moreover, capacity building of local skilled workers is being started so that they can get jobs in power projects in the UT.
MP Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma also spoke on the occasion and assured full support to Chamber in settlement of its demands. Former Deputy CM, Kavinder Gupta was also present on the occasion besides prominent members of Chamber and its ex office bearers including BJP MLAs.
Earlier in its memorandum, presented to the Minster, president Chamber Arun Gupta expressed his gratitude to him for creation of Railway Division at Jammu Railway Station. He said from time to time many issues pertaining to development of Jammu have been solved. But still there are so many pending issues which need Minister’s intervention.
He said though the developmental projects in Jammu under the guidance of Prime Minister are going on but there is urgent need to establish a Mother Industry in Jammu for the survival of ancillary units.
He said though J&K is currently experiencing un-precedented development, massive infrastructure projects are transforming the Union Territory contributing significantly for its overall growth and prosperity. However, with train reaching Srinagar, up to Baramulla, the business, Tourism, Transport sectors and economy of Jammu are going to be effected badly. To cover up the gap he suggested that in the honour of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee a prestigious and beautiful project on the pattern of Ahmedabad Statute of Unity be established in Jammu to attract tourists and local people which shall boost the economy of this region.
He demanded that the famous tourist spot of Patnitop be fully developed and Amendment in Income Tax Act U/S 43(b).
He also highlighted issues relating to flour mills and many other issues. Anil Gupta, senior vice president CCI, Rajeev Gupta junior vice president, Manish Gupta secretary general, Rajesh Gupta secretary and Rajesh Gupta, treasurer were also present.
