The Union Minister, who was chairing the DISHA meeting for district Kathua here today, said that steps taken by the Governor are praise worthy and he expressed the hope that Governor’s administration will be able to stem the rot by showing the door to corrupt elements who have eaten up vitals of the society over the years.
The Union Minister who showed his serious concern after one of the senior BJP leaders and former Vice Chairman, Backward Classes Development Board, Rishipal Verma alleged that the PHE motors installed at pump stations fail to last more than one year and it is a big scandal which needs a thorough investigation.
However, Dr Jitendra Singh said that present Government has taken many steps in weeding out the corruption and Governor is very concerned of the same and he will take cognizance of it. He also wanted to know that has any RTI been filed about this scandal.
Intervening the District Development Commissioner, Kathua Rohit Khajuria said that he will order an audit in the same to unravel the facts.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that the situation is not unhopeful in the district Kathua so far as the development is concerned. He said out of Rs 3800 crore given to Jammu region under CRF maximum amount has been earmarked for the Kathua -Doda Constituency.
He issued directives that the forest clearance and compensation cases be expedited so that the developmental process is not hampered. The Minister also stressed that the MLAs be included in awareness programmes and the developmental projects which have either been completed or which are in progress be highlighted through both print and electronic media as well as social media.
Dr Jitendra Singh said all the Yojnas launched by the Government of Narendra Modi are public welfare programmes and he stressed that periodical camps be held to highlight them.
He, while complimenting DC Kathua, other members of administration as well as his party men for successful conduct of ULB elections, said that every body at Delhi was eyeing Kathua which was in news during last some months.
Earlier Rashpaul Verma said unlike past when the motors installed at pump stations could run for years together and there was no such problem of water scarcity being faced by the people due to breakdown of motors which has been a routine affair now. He also alleged that the 50 percent of the machinery used is fraud. He said officials are still thinking about their own pockets and till they work for the interest of the State and people the situation can’t improve. The water problem can’t be solved even if every house is given a separate tube well under the prevailing circumstances and the system needs a lot of change. He also alleged that the Stand by motors are no where on any PHE Station and maximum are out of order with the result people are facing problems. He was seconded by BJP Corporator and party district president Deena Nath Bhagat also.
The District Development Commissioner, Kathua Rohit Khajuria gave a complete feed back of all schemes and projects which have been either completed or were under construction in the meeting and also sought information from concerned officers regarding problems being faced by them at the site of execution.
The shifting of utility especially by PDD also came for discussion and meeting was informed that huge estimates are being submitted by the Department for the same. This becomes a problem as there are no such huge funds available with State Government and figures in the estimates are even exaggerated which needs to be looked into.
The MLAs of Bani Jeevan Lal and Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj also sought information about the various developmental schemes in their constituencies and demanded that they be also involved in distribution of free gas cylinders under Ujwala scheme.
They also turned the attention of the Union Minister towards the material supply payments under MGNEREGA were not given and payments were not released for toilets constructed under ODF Schemes.
The issue of pending pension cases was also raised and meeting was informed that out of 2 lakh pending pension cases 35,000 are in Kathua district alone. The MLAs and other members sought intervention of Minister in releasing these payments.
