SRINAGAR, Feb 24: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, and vice president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today led party leaders and workers in offering floral tribute and Fatiha at the Mazar-e-Anwar of the party’s stalwart and former general secretary, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad on his 11th death anniversary.
They led party functionaries, legislators, Members of Parliament, and office bearers in paying homage at the late leader’s resting place in the shrine complex of Hazrat Malik Sahib Shrine (RA), Soura.
Among those present were Party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar; additional general secretary and MP Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan; Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani; chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq; provincial president Showkat Ahmad Mir; MLAs Salman Ali Sagar, Ali Muhammad Dar, Ahsan Pardesi; political advisor to the vice president Mudassar Shahmiri; State spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar; district president Srinagar Pir Afaq Ahmad; district president Baramulla Advocate Shahid Ali; district president Ganderbal Sheikh Giyas Ud Din; YNC provincial president Mir Mushtaq; block presidents; members of the Youth National Conference (YNC), media cell representatives and other party functionaries.
In Jammu, Party additional general secretary Ajay Sadhotra and provincial president Jammu Ratan Lal Gupta led the party’s Jammu unit in offering floral tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmad at a well-attended commemorative gathering held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan. Earlier, GH Malik conducted Quran Khawani. The function concluded with floral tributes and a pledge to carry forward his mission.
The programme was attended by Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Bimla Luthra, Qazi Jalal Ud Din, Deepinder Kour, Satwant Kour Dogra, Abdul Gani Teli, Nar Singh, Vikram Puri, Chander Mohan Sharma, Subash Chander Bhagat, Naresh Bittu and Sudagar Gupta, besides office-bearers and a large number of party workers.
Similar commemorative functions were held across J&K and Ladakh at all district headquarters, where rich tributes were paid to Sheikh Nazir Ahmad’s life, legacy and enduring contributions to the party.
