JAMMU, July 15: In a prestigious moment, Dr Sandeep Dogra from Jammu & Kashmir has been appointed as a part-time member of the National Medical Commission (NMC) as well as the sole expert from the Union Territory selected for the NMC Search Committee.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda oversaw the selection process through a transparent draw of lots conducted in accordance with the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. The appointments are valid for a tenure of two years.
Dr Dogra was chosen from the nominees submitted by the J&K Medical Council to serve as one of the nine part-time members representing various State Medical Councils in the Medical Advisory Council. Additionally, his selection to the Search Committee underscores his professional stature and the trust reposed in him by the Ministry.
Presently, he is serving as Professor and HoD Microbiology in GMC Jammu. He is also holding the charge of Registrar and Secretary of J&K Medical Council.
This dual appointment places Dr Dogra in a pivotal position in shaping the future of medical education and regulation in India. His inclusion is expected to bring valuable regional perspective and expertise to national healthcare governance.
