COLOMBO, Jan 19: Renowned poetess, ghazalkar and vyangyakar Dr Anila Singh Charak today was conferred with the prestigious Bharat Hindi Gaurav Samman at a grand literary function held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The award was conferred for her unmatched contributions to the field of literature.
The award was presented by Ankuran Datta, Director, High Commission of India, Colombo, along with Dr Atila Kothwala, Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Dr Neeta Subhashini.
On the occasion, Dr Anila Singh Charak’s English poetry collection titled “Bare Foot in the Sand of Life” was also released.
The book is a self-translation of her acclaimed Hindi poetry collection “Nange Paanv Zindagi”, which had earlier received the Sahitya Academy Award, Jammu and Kashmir.
The programme was jointly organised by Purvotra Hindi Sahitya Academy and the High Commission of India, Sri Lanka, at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre Auditorium, Colombo.
Adding to the literary vibrance of the event, Dr Anila also participated in a Kavi Sammelan, where her ghazal performance deeply mesmerised the audience.
Her powerful expression and poetic finesse earned her thunderous applause and wide appreciation from literary enthusiasts present at the event.
